"O Sunny Day Icon Set" coming soon!

Journal Entry: Mon Nov 9, 2009, 10:03 AM
Hi dear Deviants!

I'm pleased to announce the upcoming release of my next icon set, "O Sunny Day"!
:iconcircleplz:

After the unexpected success of my first icon set, "Lemonade At Work", and many downloads and comments of encouragement, I decided to create a new icon set using traditional technics, i.e. handmade, using pencil, colorpencils, some inspiration and, of course, lots of imagination!

So, what about on this new icon set?
After reading the comments and suggestions about my first set of icons, I've tried to improve my techniques and not repeating the errors made for "Lemonade At Work".
For now, my goals for "O Sunny Day" are the followings:

1.) Adding much more colors, much more vivid and much more contrast!
"Lemonade At Work" was too much pale, were sorely lacking in contrast and not colorful, which made it usable only with very bright wallpapers.
Also, the icons weren't very detailed, especially at high resolution under Windows Vista/Server 2008/7 (up to 256x256 pixels) and Mac OS X Tiger/Leopard/Snow Leopard (up to 512x512 pixels)...

2.) Trying to emphasize quality over quantity.
Some icons are useless for most users, such the CPU-Z or 3D Mark 06 icons...
Only the most populars applications (such as Firefox, Internet Explorer, iTunes, Word or Photoshop) and the folders icons (standard folder, music, movies, downloads, pictures, contacts and some others icons...) will be present in this icon set.

3.) Stay in a theme that inspires good humor, happiness and memories.
As you can see, I love vivid colors, fantasy, artworks inspiring happiness.
Our world is so serious ... Be happy and smiling!
Dream of a colored, peaceful and pleasant world... ^^

I want to thank all the people who commented, downloaded, viewed and/or added on their faves my first icon set!
Without you, this would have never existed! Many thanks!~☺♥

If my calculations are correct, I think I will release "Oh Sunny Day" before late November 2009, except in case of problems, of course...
If you want to see the raw version of these icons, directly scanned on A4 sheets (210x297 mm), handmade, do not hesitate to take a look at my scrapbook...

Thanks a lot for all your comments and your support!
This encourages me to continue creating new art for you!
I'm so happy to see that! Many thanks!

From what I know - what others do with icon sets - try making set exclusively for application, people like those rather than setting individual.

Or whole mime-type standardized set :)

Thanks a lot your useful suggestion!
I'll try to follow your suggestion for my next icon sets...
I've got some ideas for my third icon set, currently in draft form, which will be very different from "Lemonade At Work" and "O Sunny Day" (in work-in-progress), with a different style, but, of course, 100% handmade...

Thank you again! ^-^

I've got a very bad new: I've just formatted my hard disk because my computer was attacked by a virus yesterday, before logoff my computer in the morning, I've lost my Internet connection and most of my documents were damaged, including those on my external hard drive, which is constantly running!

Fortunately, I've made a backup of all my .psd files (Photoshop) made since July 2009, my upcoming "O Sunny Day" icon set project, my "Pictures" folder (which contains many artworks that I downloaded on DeviantART!) and some importants documents necessary for my studies.
But, I've lost all my others documents and downloaded files since September 2008 (I've made my latest complete backup of my data one year ago)!

All my musics, softwares, miscs documents, mods (before joining DeviantART in June 2009, I was very active as a modder for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, on the TES Nexus, Planet Elder Scrolls and Wiwiland websites, and on the official forums of Bethesda Softworks ...), applications and firmware for my iPod touch (I've found all of these things on the web... ; ) ) and much more... Damaged and lost!!! :( :( :(

Since several months I'm very unlucky with my computer!
-> July? A trojan on my computer! I've taken about 28 hours for fixing the problem, without sleeping!
-> September? My old computer was died! Corrupted BIOS and damaged CPU by overheating!
-> November? an other virus! All my data were lost! Noooooo!

Really unlucky, huh?

Now, I must reinstall all my softwares and games, downloading all the updates for Windows (Fortunately, there are currently only 13 updates for Windows 7! Whew!), downloading lots of files (more than 120GB of miscs data: mods, softwares, applications for iPhone/iPod touch...), rearrange my workspace and reinstalling Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" on my hard disk, a dual-boot with Windows 7...
Lots of things for the next days!
Yes, I'm very unlucky... :cries:

Fortunately, all the contents of the "Pictures" folder (where I store all the artworks downloaded, my .psd files, graphics resources, projects and wallpapers) was saved on my old external hard disk (a Philips 20GB). Whew! ^^

I've got two external hard disk: an old Philips 20GB (used very rarely) and a 320GB hard disk (which was the internal hard disk of my old computer, now used as an external HDD)...

I'm currently searching on the web about a solution for this problem...
Maybe I'll can recover some data... ;)

But I've got important data to recover, i.e. some .pdf and .doc documents for my studies, all my musics, all my application and original firmware for my iPod touch, and some personal documents (photos and videos...)... : (
